I wrote this poem in the EARLY 90's, but this is still my prayer today. Just thought I'd share...

PRAYER OF A WRITER

Staring at a blank white page

  Praying for God's help

Help me write with all my heart

  Let me write what's felt

Let me touch the lives of those 

  who don't want me to touch

Let this be an answer to the

  prayer I pray so much

Let me be a glove, Lord

Take your hand and write through me

Use me as a weapon 

Subtle strength in poetry

Help me change a single heart

  in just the slightest way

Help me reach a single soul

  This is the prayer I pray

The prayer of a writer 

To write what readers read

To walk a barren wasteland 

  and plant a single seed
